Bicycle accident in New Orleans kills 50-year-old man

As residents of Louisiana are very aware, people get around in all sorts of ways. Usually it is by car, but sometimes it’s via public transportation, motorcycles or bicycles. This mix of modes can sometimes lead to an unexpected accident, whether it is a car accident, truck accident or motorcycle accident. These collisions often cause serious injury or worse for one or more involved individuals.

An accident that recently occurred around 10:00 in the evening in New Orleans left a 50-year-old man fatally injured. The man was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old. The bicyclist was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

In this case, police did not file charges against the driver. However, that is not always the case. Often times accidents of this nature are caused by a negligent driver and the injured party, or in some cases their loved ones, are entitled to the recovery of compensation for the financial, physical and emotional hardship they experience as a result of the accident.

If an individual has been injured in a bicycle-car accident or if a family has lost a loved one unexpectedly to this type of accident and they are wondering whether they are entitled to compensation, it is always a good idea to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney.

An attorney can take some of the burden off of the injured party or that person’s family, and serve as their advocate with the other involved parties. The attorney will help those who have been injured understand whether they have a case to recover compensation and, if they do, help to ensure that the amount of compensation is maximized and recovered as expeditiously as possible.
