Chain reaction car accident kills one and injures others

On Behalf of | Jun 4, 2014 | Car Accidents

Sometimes the roads of Louisiana are busy, and that means there will be traffic. However, at times, this traffic builds up suddenly and unexpectedly, and individuals have trouble stopping in time. When one person does not stop in time, it can often lead to a chain reaction of others not stopping in time. This seems to be exactly what happened recently in a chain reaction car accident that occurred in Ascension Parish in Louisiana.

According to accident reports, the car collision involved four vehicles, all of which were traveling south. The lane became congested and traffic began to slow. One woman, for reasons that currently remain unknown, was unable to stop her car in time and she collided with the car immediately in front of her. This initial collision caused the car behind her to also crash with her vehicle. In addition, the impact of the initial rear-ending pushed the cars into a fourth vehicle.

The woman that was initially unable to stop her vehicle was wearing her seatbelt. However, she was injured, and therefore transported to a nearby medical facility. She later died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the crash. None of the other involved drivers were seriously hurt, but some did have to be treated for the injuries they suffered in the crash.

An accident of this nature is obviously very complicated, and therefore the cause of this collision remains under investigation. Police will determine whether one or more of the drivers’ negligence led to the occurrence of the crash. If that is the case, it is possible that there will be one or more personal injury lawsuits filed as a result so that the injured parties can recover compensation.
