Woman killed in car accident due to crash with speeding driver

On Behalf of | Jun 11, 2014 | Car Accidents

Drivers in New Orleans need to be cognizant of other drivers on the road in order to avoid a car accident. There are times, however, when a car collision occurs as a result of the carelessness of another. This often happens due to a speeding driver. This type of accident can result in severe injuries and even death.

A 26-year-old man is currently facing numerous charges as a result of an accident in which he allegedly was driving his 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck at nearly 100 mph. The resulting car collision killed a 59-year-old woman who was driving a Toyota Camry. The woman was stopped and waiting to proceed through an intersection when the car accident happened. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was arrested and charged due to this incident.

When there is a car crash and people are injured or killed as a result, there are many concerns after the fact. With injuries, it’s possible that the person will require long-term hospitalization, rehabilitation and round-the-clock care. If there is a death, the person who was killed might have been the primary breadwinner in the household or a stay-at-home parent. Families who are confronted with these issues will likely have trouble paying the hefty expenses that come along with them. While the law will deal with someone who was driving at a high rate of speed and caused an accident, that won’t help the family with their bills. This is why it’s important that they consider a lawsuit seeking damages.

In this instance, a woman was killed when a driver operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed crashed into her. The driver was arrested and faces charges related to the crash. That, however, doesn’t help the family of the deceased woman in a potential pursuit of compensation. Family members would be well-advised to discuss this matter with a legal professional experienced in car accident cases.
