3 car accidents lead to fatalities in 1 weekend

Sometimes the streets of New Orleans can be a dangerous place for pedestrians and those traveling in vehicles. This seemed to be the case over a recent weekend when three people were killed in separate car accidents.

The first accident occurred on a Friday evening around 10:00 p.m. A 30-year-old woman was traveling on her motorcycle behind a Chevy Camaro. The Camaro unexpectedly had a tire blowout and the driver lost control of the vehicle. This caused the woman on the motorcycle to run into the back of the Camaro and she was thrown from her motorcycle. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The second accident occurred approximately five minutes later when a 76-year-old man was driving his pickup truck down the highway. As the man was driving, a pedestrian unexpectedly stepped in front of his vehicle. The driver struck the pedestrian who was also pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A third accident occurred early that morning on Coronado drive in St. Charles Parish. A 16-year-old girl was driving her vehicle down the road when she ran a stop sign and struck a 23-year-old motorcyclist. The man was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. Medics arrived at the scene of the accident and the man was transported to the hospital for treatment where he later died from his injuries.

These accidents remain under investigation and no charges have been issued. However, that does not mean that charges will not be issued and, even if they are not, some of the drivers may face civil liability for the deaths caused to the other individuals that were involved in the car collision.

When a negligent driver is found responsible for a car accident, the surviving loved ones of the accident victim can often recover compensation from the liable party to cover medical expenses, death expenses, pain and suffering and potentially lost wages.
